The charter flight will be flying from Stockholm, Sweden to Mombasa once a week with 211 seats and is being operated by the Tour Operators Apollo (Kuoni) and VING (Thomas Cook).
Apollo (Kuoni) will be having 106 of these seats for their sales channels. VING (Thomas Cook) will be taking the other part of the flight capacity of 105 seats.
The only operating charter flight from Scandinavia cancelled in 2007 due to post election violence. Over the past years, Kenya Tourist Board has worked with Tour Operators to continue to stimulate demand for direct charter flights to Mombasa.
The Swedish tourists’ arrivals into Kenya are up by 20% this year compared to last year (2010). This positive rise in international arrival numbers is generating potential for the large charter companies to re-introduce new charters to Kenya.
