Kenya’s tourism sector is poised for a major boost as Novair begins weekly flights from Stockholm, Sweden to Mombasa starting 1st Dec 2011.
The charter flight will be flying from Stockholm, Sweden to Mombasa once a week with 211 seats and is being operated by the Tour Operators Apollo (Kuoni) and VING (Thomas Cook).
Another charter run by FINNAIR will start flying from Helsinki to Mombasa from 14th December 2011. The flight will be operating once every two weeks.
The charter flight has a capacity of carrying 268 passengers, with seats shared by two companies; Aurinkomatkat and Finnmatkat.
Over the past years, Kenya Tourist Board has worked with Tour Operators in Scandinavia to continue to stimulate demand for direct charter flights to Kenya and especially the costal city of Mombasa.
The Swedish tourist arrivals into Kenya are up by 20% this year compared to last year (2010).
This positive rise in international arrival numbers is generating potential for the large charter companies to re-introduce new charters to Kenya.
