Tortilis Camp enjoys magical views of Kilimanjaro from the spectacular
plains of Amboseli – famous for its local elephant population. Tortilis
Camp is situated in one of Amboseli's areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland.
Stefano Cheli designed a lodge that blends into the hillside: its 16
magnificent tents, family tent, family house and main lounge, bar and
dining area are all exquisitely built using natural materials and
thatched roofs. The camp represents the very best of low impact, high
comfort tourism. Tortilis has the undeveloped western half of Amboseli
to itself. Game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals take place both
inside the park and within a private 30,000 acre game concession. The
camp also offers spa treatments, has a private pool and is famed for its
North Italian cuisine with recipes based on original dishes by
Stefano’s mother. Tortilis Camp has been awarded ‘Silver Level’ by Eco
tourism Kenya and won British Airways’ coveted ‘Tourism for Tomorrow’
Award for its ground breaking Eco-design and ethos in 1996.
