Nestled in the valley between the dramatic slopes of Mount Kenya and the rolling peaks of the Aberdare Mountains, Solio Lodge opened in August 2010 and is one of Kenya's most luxurious properties.
Exclusivity, privacy, exceptional game viewing and luxurious accommodation are the hallmark of Solio Lodge.
The lodge is located on the Solio Game Conservancy, which part of a private ranch, and is home to a diverse and numerous population of wildlife, including both black and white rhino, which is a rarity. Solio Game Conservancy is recognised as the most successful private rhinoceros breeding conservancy in Kenya, and is today home to over 74 Black Rhinoceros and 155 White Rhinoceros, which live in harmony with other wildlife including buffalo, zebra, giraffe and plains game such as eland, oryx, impala, waterbuck, Thompson’s gazelle and warthog.
Cats include lion, cheetah and leopard; the conservancy has some of the best leopard viewing in the country. Solio Lodge has just six cosy, luxurious cottages, each en-suite with large glass pane windows to take in the panoramic views of the landscape, framed by Mount Kenya.
Each cottage has a private lounge area warmed by a corner fire, as well as large bathrooms with double sinks, bath and shower. The cottages are designed for warmth as the lodge is high in altitude and can be cold at night, as well as outdoor living with each having a front deck for relaxation during the day.
Solio Lodge boasts excellent standards of guiding, cuisine and personalised hosting. Activities at Solio Lodge include horseback riding, walking, mountain biking, game drives, and trips to Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountains.
