Kenya Tourist Board seeks Top Notch International Marketing Development Representatives
The Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) is seeking to Recruit new Marketing Development Representatives (MDRs) across the globe as it widens its marketing scope. The Board has subsequently placed an advertisement in The Economist magazine worldwide edition issue of 18th July 2009 and 25th July 2009 requesting for business proposals from consultants in 21 countries out of which 12 are new.

“The Kenya Tourist Board invites proposals for these services in order for it to deliver its mandate of effectively and efficiently marketing and promoting Kenya internationally;’’ read the advertisement in part.

MDRs role is to liaise with KTB in penetrating, developing, and growing the market by utilizing their skills and market expertise. MDRs are an added resource to enable KTB to leap ahead of the competition and optimize its marketing investments for higher value outcomes.

Those to be recruited will work for a three-year renewable contract depending on their performance delivery.

New countries targeted as potential source markets include Russia, South Africa, Australia, Eastern Europe Canada, India and Japan. Other countries are Switzerland and Austria, Spain and Portugal, Gulf Cooperation countries, Hong Kong/China and the rest of America.

KTB has recently enhanced its marketing and public relations activities in both the traditional and emerging source markets. A high powered delegation led by Kenya’s Minister for Tourism, Najib Balala was in Eastern Europe two weeks ago conducting travel trade workshops, focus group discussion meetings and one-on-one sales calls with key members of the travel trade aimed at gaining additional insights into the Russia, Poland and Czech market.
