2010, Concours d’Elegance
The Nairobi Racecourse gates open for the 2010 AccessKenya Africa Concours d’Elegance which is the classiest event on the Kenya Motor Sport calendar at 9.00 a.m. on Sunday, September 26th.

This year’s vehicle beauty contest will be the 40th in the annual series organized by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club and will also celebrate the centenary of Alfa Romeo, a legendary Italian car manufacturer.

The Concours has been recognized and sanctioned by the FIM Africa since 2006 and is now listed on the international FIM calendar as an Africa status event.

This has helped to attract 16 entries from four countries outside Kenya.

Spectators will be treated to a pageant of motoring history while the judges assess the maximum field of 70 cars and 40 motorcycles.

The oldest motorcycle will be a 1915 Indian entered by Johannesburg based Philip Gordon and the equivalent car is the 1928 Ford Model A of Phoenix Aviation.

This vintage machine was the overall winner of last year’s AccessKenya Africa Concours d’Elegance and is among the favourites for a repeat victory.

Starting with these two “golden oldies” visitors to the Nairobi Racecourse will be able to view an impressive collection of cars and motorcycles from the nineteen thirties and the early post war years.

There is also a fine selection of sports cars and classic rally cars from the seventies running through to recent “muscle” motorcycles.
