Kenya Roses for London Commuters to celebrate Royal Wedding
KENYA SHOWERS LONDON COMMUTERS WITH 13,000 KENYAN ROSES TO CELEBRATE ROYAL WEDDINGAs excitement builds in anticipation of the Royal Wedding, Kenya celebrated the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton with Kenyan roses as gifts for London commuters on the morning of 20th April 2011.

13,000 roses were hand-picked from Flamingo Farm in Naivasha and handed out to commuters by a group of Maasais in traditional dress at London Bridge, Waterloo, Liverpool Street and Kings Cross underground stations.

National, trade and lifestyle UK media also received a bouquet of roses each.

A card was attached to each rose with a note to highlight Kenya’s offerings as a romantic destination as chosen by Prince William for his marriage proposal to Kate Middleton last October in a beautiful lake-side spot on Mount Kenya.

The bride and groom have also included a ‘Save the Black Rhino’ project in Kenya among the charities close to their hearts on their wedding gift list.

Kenya Tourist Board partnered with the Kenya Flower Council and Maasai Arts Organisation to organise this event, with UK tour operator, Hayes and Jarvis providing a special romantic holiday package for those wishing to experience the romance of Kenya for themselves.

Kenya Tourist Board’s Regional Marketing Manager, Jacinta Nzioka (right) said “Kenya Tourist Board is delighted to bring a taste of Kenya to London and would like to thank the Maasai Arts Organisation and Kenya Flower Council for their support.

We have received an overwhelming response from morning commuters interested in hearing about Kenya and hope the UK market continues to grow following the success of today. ”

Kenya Tourist Board UK is pleased with the success of this rose giveaway campaign and is looking forward to welcoming more visitors to Kenya by raising awareness of its diversity as a destination to the UK market.
